The Midnight Vault stories will kill any fiction I post this week. 2. We have a book release this week, and a competition approaching.

Open Calls:

Open call submission information is available at

Drek Death and Doom and Nascent Night Press are both open for long fiction submissions. Collections, Novellas, Novels.

For long fiction submissions, send query letter and first chapter. I will ask for the full thing if I want a closer look.

Submit at submissions@drekdeathanddoom.com.

Reminders

• The submission window for the Christmas Horror Noir Competition will only be open for 12 hours, 8 am to 8 pm EST, December 7. Submissions outside of that period will not be considered.

• The submission window for Bloodlust—anthology we’ll be publishing next Valentine’s day—closes December 25th. I only have three submission for this so far. It’s probably better to get them in earlier than with the flood that comes at the end.

• Reprints won’t be considered for either submission. Reprints include posted elswhere online.

• The Christmas contest will be judged in private. There isn’t a public posting with a linking tag, there’s no public poll.

A Call to Arms:

I’m looking for a couple different groups right now, on top of that call out I gave last week. (For reminder: I’m looking for other people who mess around with publishing, promoting, or advertising who are open to a collaborative effort in pushing fiction.)

Aside from that, I’m looking for:

• A street team - Reliable people who can take flyers and extra stickers and merch, like pins and tattoos and bookmarks, and spread them throughout high reader-traffic areas and to wide readers.

• Judges - I want a panel of a couple people who can judge this coming Chistmas Horror Noir submissions so we can put a lot of thought behind the winning piece.

• Considering all these helpful little bodies I’m calling out for—is there anybody right now wanting to get in on any of the projects coming up? From hype people, social promo, indie bookstore vouchers, neighborhood library distributors—just let me know. I’m not an instructor dolling out roles, either; I’m talking old-school collabs of ideas. Using our noggins in niche areas.
